Doctor completes 61 blood donations at 62 on Doctors Day

On National Doctors Day, Punjab State Medical & Dental Teachers Association (PSMDTA) has urged its members to come forward and take a pledge to serve the medical profession in the golden path shown by Bharat Rattan Awardee Dr. BC Roy, work hard with honesty and dedication, show unity and solidarity in the cadre, work to keep the medical and health institutions clean and green and donate blood for their patients.

According to Dr. DS Bhullar, State President of the Association (PSMDTA) first day of July is marked as National Doctors Day in India in the memory and as a tribute to the great Indian physician, educationalist, politician and the great social reformer, the Legendry ‘Bharat Rattna’ Dr. B.C. Roy whose Birth Day and Death Anniversary happens to be on this dayand his contributions to medical profession and Indian Medical Association are immense. He was the first Chief Minister of West Bengal and held that position till his death, and in spite of his political schedules he continued to serve the medical profession by devoting one hour every day for the cause of poor patients.

Doctor completes 61 blood donations at 62 on Doctors Day. Dr. Bhullar (62), a National Fellowship Awardee (IAFM) who completed his 61 blood donations in the blood donation camp organized by Patiala Chapter of Indian Medical Association today in Rajindra Hospital, said apart from organ and body donation, blood donation is the best gift a blood donor can give to a dying patient and save life and the doctors should come forward for donating blood and become role models for the people and the public to encourage blood donation movement in the country.
