Doctor who served defamation case against her seniors, suspended for malpractice

Satish Chandra, I.A.S Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Punjab Government in an order no. 1/14/2019-2HR3/ 3145-51 dated 21-5-2019 suspended Dr. Harshinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Government Medical College, Patiala with immediate effect. Dr Harshinder Kaur, who was caught referring patients to a private lab by Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Rajan Singla.
In another order issued by Satish Chandra, I.A.S Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Punjab Government removed Dr. Harshinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Government Medical College, Patiala as Nodal Officer, Rashtriya Bal Suraksha Katyakarm (RBSK) at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. She was appointed as Nodal Officer, Rashtriya Bal Suraksha Katyakarm (RBSK) at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala.
“In supersession of all previous orders, Dr. Parveen Mittal, Professor, Paediatrics, Government Medical College, Patiala is appointed as Nodal Officer RBSK at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. As Nodal Officer, he would co-ordinate and arrange for OPD and treatment of children under RBSK on all six days in a week” read the order.
Earlier Dr Harshinder served a defamation case and has sought an unconditional apology and Rs 1 crore on account of damage and loss of her reputation within 15 days from Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Rajan Singla.
She said she was on a child care leave from April 29 to May 28, but was called to the hospital by the MS Dr. Singla to complete pending work related to the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) scheme as she was a nodal officer. “I was framed by the Medical Superintendent. The said patient was also planted by him. I will fight the battle for my reputation,” she said.
