Doing wrong mutation proved costly; vigilance arrests property dealer to naib tehsildar

State Vigilance Bureau today arrested a Naib Tehsildar, Patwari, Nambardar and property dealer for committing wrong mutation of 1295 acres of shamlat land in village Seonk, SAS Nagar district. In this connection, a local court awarded seven days’ police remand to bureau for further investigations.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau (VB) said on the verification of documents during the probe, it has been found that Varinderpal Singh Dhoot, the then Naib Tehsildar block Majri, Kangoo Raghbir Singh and Patwari Iqbal Singh along with property dealer Sham Lal, Nambardar Gurnam Singh affected the mutation of shamlat land in village Seonk, Tehsil Majri, SAS Nagar district.

He further informed that while doing the mutation of division of 1295 acres shamlat land, approximately 117 acres of shares was altered by reducing the shares of 24 beneficiaries namely Baljit Kaur W/o Kishan Singh, Naseeb Singh S/o Ganga Singh, Banta Singh S/o Chanan Singh, Ugajar Singh S/o Thakur Singh etc, and added the shares of other peoples namely Ram Krishan S/o Chitru Ram, Kulwinder Singh S/o Hajara Singh etc who are not even resident of this village.

Furthermore, he stated that due to the increase and decrease in shares of beneficiaries, a difference of 99 acres 04 kanal 14.32 marla has been found. Many shareholders, in whose name mutations were endorsed, are not even residents of the village and have not been traced during vigilance enquiry.

Meanwhile, he added that Varinderpal Singh Dhoot, Kangoo Raghbir Singh, Patwari Iqbal Singh in connivance with property dealer Sham Lal Gujjar, Tarsem Lal, Balbir Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Manbir Singh, Kabal Singh and Gurnam Singh Nambardar sold this land on the basis of GPAs for crores of rupees to Anand Khosla, Nishan Singh and other persons.

He revealed that Varinderpal Singh Dhoot Naib Tehsildar, Patwari Iqbal Singh, property dealer Sham Lal Gujjar and Gurnam Singh Nambardar and two others have been arrested and they have been produced in the District Court, SAS Nagar thereby court awarded 7 days police remand to the VB.

In this regard, FIR No. 13 u/s 409, 420, 465, 467, 471, 120-B IPC and 7, 7(a) prevention of corruption act 1988 has been registered on the basis of Vigilance Enquiry and further investigation is under progress.
