Dr. Ganda Singh Memorial Lecture organized by Department of History and Punjab Historical Studies, Punjabi University

The Department of History and Punjab Historical Studies, Punjabi University Patiala organised Dr. Ganda Singh Memorial Lecture on the theme of “Situating the Punjab Peasantry and Freedom Struggle in Ghadarite Perspective”.
Dr Jashandeep Singh Sandhu, Head Department of History and Punjab Historical Studies welcomed the Keynote Speaker and elaborated on the Life, History and achievements of Dr. Ganda Singh. The Keynote Speaker, Dr Sukhdev Singh Sohal,Former Professor and Head, Department of History Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, he discussed in detail the major issues regarding Ghadar Movement under these headings 1. The Ghadhar : Idea, Organisation and Movement: 2. The Ghadar : Treasure Trove of the Punjab Historical Experience 3.Colonialism : the Punjab Peasantry and the Ghadarites 4. The Ghadarite : Vision of Freedom Struggle.
Professor Arvind, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala presided over the lecture and laid stress on the impotance of Ghadar Movement in History. He also discussed economic issues and internal colonism in Indian History. In the end Dr Daljit Singh , Head, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur National Integration Chair also laid stress on the importance of Ghadar Movement in the freedom struggle of India and discussed about the Ganda Singh Punjabi refrence library situated in main library (Punjabi University Patiala) for the research purpose and proposed the Vote of thanks.
