Education 2030;India’s eminent school educators discussed the goal at Chandigarh

The New India Education Summit (NIES) 2019 brought together some of the finest educators, institutions and innovators, to ideate and work towards the goal of ‘Education 2030’ through ‘strengthening framework and building infrastructure’.
Day one kicked off with a welcome note from Dr. Jagpreet Singh, Headmaster of The Punjab Public School and Ravi Santlani, Founder & CEO of ScooNews. Together, they set the stage for further discussions and deliberations that paved the path for the theme ‘Education 2030’.
B.L. Sharma, Education Secretary, Dept. of Education, Chandigarh, Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education, Dept. of Education, Chandigarh and Dr. Jagpreet Singh, Headmaster, The Punjab Public School, Nabha discussed the state of education in Chandigarh and shared impressive insights with the audience.
Lt. Col. A. Sekhar, Director Education of SAI International Group of Schools initiated the first open house of the event, on the topic of ‘Education and Climate Change’. In his talk, he elaborated on the role of education and climate change as pivotal factors upon which future development is dependent.
The event saw various panel discussions on topics around the theme ‘Education 2030’. On the first day, the panels revolved around providing access to quality and inclusive education for all in order to build a sustainable future. The panelists included educators and principals of various renowned schools and colleges.
The discussions created the precedent for strengthening the infrastructure to support the education of tomorrow. It gave everyone a lot to think about when considering development to propel our education system to meet needs of future-ready citizens. Additionally, the moderators who are innovators in the field, helped steer the discussion to align with the goals of the summit.
Day one ended on a fitting note with a Punjabi Potpourri hosted by The Punjab Public School, followed by a welcome dinner in honour of Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator for the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Even though the summit had to come to a pause, the eagerness to achieve more was still in the air.
