Under its robust international exchange programme, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with leading Wayne State University (WSU) of United States of America (USA) for credit transfer study paving the way for opening doors for the brilliant students aspiring to undertake study abroad.

An online Collaborative conference between the illustrious Universities MRSPTU and  WSU was organised on Wednesday late evening, which was attended by WSU, Associate Vice President  for Educational outreach and International programs, Dr. Ahmad M. Ezziddin, Wayne State College of Engineering Dean and Professor ,  Dr. Farshad Fotouhi and    Dr. Harpreet Singh, Professor, WSU.

From MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu, Registrar Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, Dean Academics (Dr.) Savina Bansal, office-in- charge MoU,  Prof.  Rajesh Gupta and senior faculty of the university.  Top brass of both the varsities discussed  future plans to execute the MoU in an  effective manner.

Dr. Ahmad M. Ezziddin highlighted the great work being done in WSU under its International programmes/partnerships and alignments to provide a world-class education in Detroit (USA)  and around the world.   Dr. Farshad Fotouhi elaborated the various aspects of MoU and its implantation road map.

Giving details, they said that under this collaborative pathway programme, a student after studying in the MRSPTU for three years will complete fourth and fifth year of study at Wayne State University under 3 plus 2 and 3 plus 1 programme.   They further said that after completion of 4th and 5th year under this programme, both B.Tech. and Master’s degrees will be awarded by Wayne State University (USA).

MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu throws light on the achievements of MRSPTU,  named after Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who was  one of the greatest kings in Indian history. Popularly known as Sher-E-Punjab, “The Lion of Punjab” played a very crucial role in women Education under his rule”, he added, while giving a brief history of education in ancient times in India. He also spoke about Punjab, which is a land of Great Guru Sahiban, Saints and Warriors.

“We are grateful to the management of WSU for giving full support to fulfil the dream of students, who are   craving for higher study abroad.

Prof. Harpreet Singh said that both the universities named after great warriors (Wayne State’s community of relentless and resilient Warriors and great king Maharaja Ranjit Singh) will work together to enable the students of best global practices in the technical education sector on both sides.

In his congratulatory message, Governor of Punjab,  V.P. Singh Badnore said, “It gives me immense pleasure to know that MRS-PTU, Bathinda added another feather to its cap by signing a “Memorandum of Understanding’ with Wayne State University of U.S.A. It will definitely open new vistas to students of Punjab to pursue education abroad.  I extend my best wishes to the faculty, officials of both the Universities and also to the students,”.

Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh also expressed his happiness and extended best wishes to both the universities. In his message, Captain Amarinder Singh said,     “It is heartening to learn that MRSPTU), Bathinda under its International Student Exchange programme “Enrol Here, Study Abroad” signed (MoU) with  WSU. I hope this MoU would go a long way to provide enormous opportunities to our brilliant students to study abroad. Our Government has already taken several initiatives to facilitate the Punjabi youth to pursue education across the globe so as to cherish their aspirations. On this occasion, I send my best wishes to the faculty of both the universities and students,”.

The programme began with prayer, “Deh Shiva Var Mohe”and concluded with “Gagan Mein Thal”.  The programme coordinator Dr. Sunita Kotwal conducted the programme very well.
