Ensure uninterrupted power supply to health care, oxygen plants-CMD

Punjab state Power Corporation limited (PSPCL) CMD A Venu Prasad has directed its distribution, technical team “to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the Oxygen plants, Medical equipment manufacturing units, Hospitals and Covid care/Quarantine centers etc.in this hour of crises.”
In a letter to the director distribution and director technical, CMD said “we are all experiencing a truly unprecedented situation due to the coronavirus COVID- 19 pandemic and it is indeed heartening that despite this difficult situation, our engineers and staff are ensuring reliable & continuous supply. Nevertheless, in this situation, it is extremely important to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the Oxygen plants, Medical equipment manufacturing units, Hospitals and Covid Care/Quarantine Centers fed directly through 11kV/66kV feeders from substations of PSPCL/PSTCL, to facilitate their continuous operation and critical medical care to the patients. 24×7 availability and reliability of power supply to such consumers should be ensured considering the criticality of the services/product offered by them.”
He further added that “in this regard, it is hereby directed to ensure 24×7 availability of quality power supply to aforesaid consumers feeding directly through PSPCL’s infrastructure. All officials under your jurisdiction may be instructed to keep a close watch on the system associated with such consumers. All predictive/preventive maintenance and testing activities should be carried out proactively to avoid interruption/breakdown on 11kV/66kV lines and substations. The interruptions/breakdown of such feeders should be attended on war-footing ensuring minimum downtime.”
He also cautioned the distribution, technical teams “ to make all out efforts should be made to avoid interruptions/breakdowns on PSPCL’s infrastructure extending power supply to Oxygen plants, Medical equipment manufacturing units, Hospitals, Covid Care/Quarantine Centers etc. In case of any problem, please do not hesitate to directly contact him.”
He even advised that “our 24×7 services are critical to the public health & safety and the economy of the State. However, at the same time we have to ensure that our workforce remains healthy. All employees under your jurisdiction should be encouraged to take Covid-19 precautions such as wearing mask, using sanitizer, social distancing etc. as per Govt. guidelines. Employees should be encouraged to use IT tools for day to day official work. Further, as you all are aware that vaccination drive is in full swing at various PSPCL offices all over the state, employees under your jurisdiction should be encouraged to get vaccinated at the earliest and encourage others also to do the same so we can come back together safely out of this pandemic by suppressing the chain of transmission.”
