Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal today said that every effort would be made for the overall development of Bathinda city. He gave away a grant of Rs 4.5 crores for different public works in the city and also listen to the grievances of the people at Panchayat Bhawan.
While addressing the public he said that Punjab Government’s chief motive is to improve the education and health of the people. “There is no paucity of funds for the development of Bathinda city for which funds are made available time to time,” he said. He also planted a sapling at local Cloth Market on 550th Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
On the request of the public at Kamla Nehru Colony he announced to build an open gym in one of the parks of the colony. He also distributed grant to build ramps.
At Amreek Singh Road and Veer Colony he distributed cheques for the borewell and pumps and did similar activity in other localities of the city.
He distributed cheques for the repair and maintenance of streets in Sanguana Basti and Subhash Basti. He also gave away cheque of Rs 8 lakhs for a Dharamshala near Sanguana Basti.
At the SSD Government Aided School he interacted with the school teachers and principal where he gave cheques for smart classes, repair of school building, library and to buy new books. He gave cheque for similar works to President SS Jain Sabha, Principal Goodwill Society, SSD Ball Gopal Play way school, SSD Moti Ram Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Sirki Bazar Welfare Society, New Shakh Nagar Welfare Association and also gave money to the XEN of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for the shifting of lines near residential places in different wards of the city.
Later during the he gave money for interlock tiles and premix carpet works in Sarabha Nagar, Pukhraj Colony, Ajit Road, Namdev Road and for the street opposite Mann Petrol Pump.
To offer help to the unemployed girls the Finance Minister gave away sewing machines to poor girls through Giandeep Welfare Society.
He also gave away money to the tune of Rs 8 lakhs for the water supply line in Mall Godown Road in ward number 30.
