Excise Department Conducts Major Search Operation in Gambhirpur Village, 800 Litres of Lahan Seized

Under the directions of Punjab Excise Commissioner Jatindera Jorwal, IAS, the Excise Department carried out a large-scale cordon and search operation in Gambhirpur village, Rupnagar district, on Tuesday.
The operation was under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Excise), Patiala Zone, Tarsem Chand, and under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner (Excise), Rupnagar Range, Ashok Chalahotra. It was executed with the participation of EO Ropar, Shekhar Garg, and Excise Inspector Nangal, Manpreet Singh, along with other officials of the Excise Department and police personnel.
During the operation, the team recovered and destroyed 4 drums (totaling 800 litres) of lahan (fermented illicit liquor mash) used for manufacturing illegal liquor. An FIR has been registered at Police Station Anandpur Sahib in this regard.
The operation was carried out with full deployment, strategic planning, and caution. The primary objective of this high-intensity drive was to identify and dismantle illegal liquor networks, ensure compliance with excise laws, and enforce legal order in sensitive areas.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against illegal liquor activities, the Excise Department emphasized that such operations will continue across the state to safeguard public health and protect government revenue.
