Excise official who mowed down one; injured five outside Thapar college in Patiala; not arrested

Patiala police is going to book Punjab state excise inspector Prithpal Singh for recklessly driving, mowing down one person, injuring five person with his SUV outside Thapar college traffic lights, in Monday evening in Patiala. The accident was so severe that it smashes the Hyundai, Swift car badly.
As per the available information Prithpal Singh was recklessly driving Fortuner CH 01 AQ 6969 and hits a Hyndai, Maruti Swift, a motorcycle and farmers standing in the chowk silently and peacefully protesting against the three farm bills, at traffic light point outside Thapar college, Patiala.
As per initial reports one person Inderjit Singh aged 65 years dies in the accident. He along with other were standing at the traffic light, silently protesting against the tree farm laws. Four persons were immediately shifted to government Rajindra hospital and one person is admitted at a private hospital-Columbia Asia Hospital. The injured includes a pregnant lady. One lady accompanied with her husband and their around 2 year old boy and a girl child were on the bike.
A child ,student of local DAV Public school, Bhupindra Road, Patiala , who is standing with the farmer Inderjit Singh, on the roadside was also hit by the fortuner and is in critical condition, but stable and under observation at Columbia Asia Hospital.
As per the SHO Tripuri, Harry Boparai, “we are already lodging the FIR against the accused, under relevant sections, after taking the statements of the victims .”
A FIR number 78 dated 30-3-2021 is lodged against Fortuner number CH 01 AQ 6969 driver Prithpal Singh resident of House No 50, Urban Estate III, Patiala, under section 297 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) , 337 (causes hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life), 338 (causes grievous hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life), 427 (commits mischief ), 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide) , 304 (Whoever commits culpable homicide ) IPC.
Prithpal Singh got himself admitted at a private hospital-Vardhman hospital in Urban Estate. As per police officials, his statement is not yet recorded .
As per initial reports and informed by the police investigating the incident, Priptal Singh is an excise inspector, posted at Patran in Patiala district.
As per eye witnesses Excise official who mowed down one; injured five outside Thapar college in Patiala; arrested was in inebriated condition. The swift car is driven by a women.
