Excise policy, senior officials met liquor contractors

Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner (Taxation), Punjab, MP Singh, held a meeting with the officials of excise and taxation department and liquor contractors of Ferozpur and Faridkot divisions here at Circuit House on Thursday to seek their suggestions for excise policy of the state for 2018-19. He was also accompanied by Excise and taxation commissioner Punjab VP Singh, Additional Excise and taxation commissioner Punjab Gurtej Singh and Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Diparva Lakra.

MP Singh said that the upcoming Excise policy of the state government will be framed while keeping in view the interests of the key stakeholders from common public to liquor contractors.

He added that three key elements will be focused in the new excise policy which includes enhancing the government revenue, securing the interests of the general public and the facilitation of liquor contractors.

FCT holds meeting with liquor contractors of Faridkot, Ferozpur divisions

MP Singh said that while framing the guidelines of the new policy, they will try to resolve the problems and issued raised by the liquor contractors across the state. He added that they had already held meetings with the contractors of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Ropar divisions and will soon meet the contractors of Ludhiana division.

Meanwhile, Excise and Taxation Commissioner Punjab VP Singh said that to stop the malpractice of smuggling of illicit liquor in Punjab, the state government has initiated various steps including recovery of 12 or more illicit liquor bottles has made non-bailable offence.

On this occasion, SDM Bathinda Sakshi Sahwney, DETC Gurbinder Singh Sandhu, AETC Ramesh Malhotra, AETC Lajpal Jakhar, ETO RS Romana, various other officials of excise department and liquor contractors were also present.
