The district administration of Patiala is fully committed to supporting farmers with stubble management. Alongside on-ground engagement from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, modern technology is being deployed to streamline the process. The Punjab Government has introduced the ‘Unnat Kisan’ mobile app, designed to simplify access to Crop Residue Management (CRM) machinery for farmers.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav elaborated that all CRM machines in the district have been mapped on the ‘Unnat Kisan’ app. Through the app, farmers can conveniently book machinery available nearby. Each machine has been geo-tagged based on the area of cultivable land, allowing for efficient monitoring and documentation of stubble management activities.

Dr. Preeti Yadav also emphasized that nodal officers and village-level officers have been appointed to assist farmers with the machine booking process. These officers have undergone district-level training on the app’s usage. The app has already registered farmers, machine owners, village-level nodal officers, and block-level officers.

The Deputy Commissioner urged farmers to adopt eco-friendly practices by refraining from burning crop residue and utilizing the ‘Unnat Kisan’ mobile app for their stubble management needs. The app is available for download on Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app.unnatkisan) and the Apple App Store (https://apps.apple.com/in/app/unnat-kisan/id6451381977).
