“Fifty Years of Jab We Met”-Thaparian’s 1975 batch marks Golden Jubilee reunion with heartfelt celebrations

The 1975 Batch of Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) returned to their Alma Mater after fifty years for Golden Jubilee Reunion aptly titled “Fifty Years of Jab We Met.” The programme was attended by senior administration, revered former teachers, and student volunteers.
The event was graced by Prof. Padmakumar Nair, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Meenakshi Rana, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Shruti Sharma, Dean of Academic Affairs, Heads of Departments, and former faculty members Prof. Sunder Singh, Prof. P. L. Bali, Dr. P. K. Bansal, and Dr. V. P. Bansal. Mansi Bhargava, Head of Alumni Relations, along with student volunteers, coordinated the celebrations.
More than 65 batchmates, who had come from different parts of the country included 9 from abroad, mostly with their spouses attended the function.Vice Chancellor welcomed the alumni back to their alma mater and provided a brief account of the achievements of the institute. He also released a souvenir specially prepared to mark this occasion.
Representatives of the batch thanked the Thapar administration and students for making this event a memorable one. They recalled long lectures, late-night study sessions, canteen banter, friendships, and the “Thaparian” spirit that they still carry.

Alumni were given away specially cureted mementos on this occasion, Spouses of the alumni were also honoured for their support in making the reunion possible.Student volunteers gave glittering performances to keep the partcipants entertained. A highlight of the celebrations was the felicitation of former teachers, who were thanked for shaping the batch’s academic foundation and personal values.
The batch also paid heartfelt tribute to classmates and teachers who are no longer with them, honouring their memory and their place in the shared journey of the 1975. Alumni toured various parts of the campus including new library, academic blocks, labs, workshops, and hostels. Groups were accompanied by student volunteers, creating a symbolic bridge between past and present generations of Thaparians.
