After many hindrances, finally the day has come when CM will flag off buses from Punjab to Delhi Airport.
As per Punjab government plan, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann will flag off state owned buses on June 15,2022 at Jalandhar to Delhi Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
Even on May 31,2022, to avoid traffic congestion in the national capital, state transport authority of Government of NCT, New Delhi has issue a new corridor to facilitate commuters arrived at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi.
The new route for the passenger buses operating to and from Punjab shall reach or operate to / from the IGI airport, Delhi via Singhu Border-Captain Vikram Batra Chowk(Mukarba Chowk)- Madhuban Chowk- Janakpuri District Centre- Dhaula Kuan, Aerocity Underpass-IGI Airport staging Area.
In the month of April this year, discussion between the CMs of both the Punjab and Delhi governments, the issue was taken up during a secretary-level meeting of the Transport Departments of both the states, where it was agreed upon to run eight shared buses.
All depots in the Punjab have been asked to get ready Volvo buses for the purpose. Depot managers have been directed to inspect all Volvo buses and ensure they are fit for plying to the Delhi Airport.
As of now, there is no government bus service to the Delhi Airport. After the AAP formed government in Punjab, a discussion was held on the issue with the officials concerned.
As per available information, the bus service to the Delhi Airport will start from main cities like Chandigarh, Ropar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, Moga, Muktsar, Nawanshahr etc since most concentration of population from these areas are settled abroad.
The timetable of the bus service will be made according to the flight schedule. The transport department has also issued directions to start preparing roaster for the same.
