The Financial Literacy Club of Yadavindra Public School, Patiala is a student-led and student-operated club which was formed in conformity with the aim of teaching fellow students financial keywords and helping them gain a holistic understanding of financial markets, from basic money management to investment strategies and the like.

The club, run by Uday Batra as the President and Samaira Singh as the Vice President aims at discussing the latest happenings occurring on the global economic spectrum at large, stirring awareness regarding the effective techniques on how to ensure smarter financial management among students.

The club attracted nearly 70 students from classes IX to XII. Through regular weekly club meetings, these students were taught effective techniques on how to facilitate smarter monetary management of things as simple as their monthly pocket money to creating a bank account and investing in stock markets.

During the introductory meetings, club members delved into the basics of finance, learning essential keywords like equity, shares, and funds. In the weeks that followed, attention shifted to intricate financial mechanisms, exploring concepts like share dilution and convertible notes. The focus was kept on demystifying shares, comprehending the fundamental workings of the stock market and grasping the value of informed investments. “As future leaders of tomorrow, and more importantly, as Yadavindrians, I felt as though it was of utmost significance for us as citizens coming from a city like Patiala- to gain a holistic understanding into how the multidimensional world of finance operates and impart basic knowledge about managing money.

Keeping this in mind, I came up with an initiative to start a student-led financial literacy club in the school led by Samaira Singh as the Vice President and myself, as the President,” said Uday Batra, the Founding President of the Club.
