FIR lodged in BJP MLA Arun Narang manhandling incident on the complaint of SP

Malout City police station has lodged a FIR against 3-4 known and around 250-300 unknown persons, for attacking BJP MLA from Abohar, Arun Narang and other police officials.

Today, BJP MLA from Abohar, Arun Narang reached Malout in connection with a party press conference where he’s surrounded by some agitators and demonstrators who restrained him and gheraoed him.

In the meantime, police party surrounded him and trying to evacuate him from the spot, the agitators started attacking him and the police personnel’s who were protecting him.

During the scuffle, SP HQ Sri Muktsar Sahib Gurmail Singh along with other police officials suffered injuries on head, elbows, legs and other parts of their body. They were immediately shifted to the civil hospital.

While confirming the FIR ,  Malout City police station SHO Inspector Harjit Singh said,” at present i am civil hospital, where our SP sahib and other police officials were admitted.”

On this incident a FIR has been registered at Malout city Police Station u/s 307 (attempt to murder) and other relevant sections 353,186,188,332,342,506,148,149 IPC against those 3-4 known persons and 250-300 unknown persons, on the complaint of the injured SP, as no BJP leader has yet given statement about today’s incident.

Earlier, strongly condemning the attack on BJP MLA from Abohar, Arun Narang, allegedly by angry farmers protesting the Centre’s Farm Laws, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday warned of strict action against anyone trying to disturb the state’s peace by taking the law into their hands. Captain Amarinder had directed DGP Dinkar Gupta to take strict action, under the law, against the perpetrators, who also clashed with the police personnel who tried to rescue the MLA.

The DGP later said a criminal case will be registered against the suspects who assaulted the MLA and police officers. He said statements of local BJP leaders were being recorded and relevant sections of law would be imposed on its basis.

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh has strongly condemned the attack on the Abohar MLA Arun Narang at Malout and said “such incidents had no place in a democratic set up. “It is not only unacceptable, but highly condemnable that an elected representative of the people was mercilessly thrashed in full public view”.
