When contacted the medical superintendent of Govt Rajindra hospital Dr Girish Sahni, he said “the hospital is facing power supply issue from the last 3-4 days. We had already informed this to the powercom officials. They didn’t pay any heed to our request. This is the first time in the history of Rajindra hospital that it remained without power for such a long duration. As soon as the power is snapped on Saturday night we immediately shifted our power supply to generators. We have 7 generators and out of it 6 worked during this time. Only 1 generator of MCH building didn’t work. Also in between these 6 generators were stopped for few minutes only whenever diesel is to be poured in it.”

He further added the health minister has called a meeting today with health and powercom officials.

As per a senior doctor “vital services and equipment like medical ventilators, incubators, and dialysis machines rely on electricity to function—and patients rely on them to survive and due to power cut the whole system collapses.  In addition to this loss of HVAC, water pressure, sterilization technology, and refrigeration capabilities can also be devastating for medical facilities”
