First Woman to head Jalandhar Police Commissionerate

Punjab govt has appointed Dhanpreet Kaur, IPS of 2006 batch as the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar. She became the first woman police officer to head the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate.
On this Republic day, she was awarded with President’s Medal for Meritorious Services.
Dhanpreet Kaur, IPS on Saturday took on the responsibility of Commissioner of Police of Jalandhar. She reiterated the Police’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional service to the residents of Jalandhar
Born and brought up in Patiala, Dhanpreet Kaur, 2006-batch IPS officer, celebrate her birthday on April 21. She is a student of Punjabi University where she did her MA and later took coaching from Punjabi University, IAS training Centre
She joined as ASP under-training in Ludhiana in 2008. From 2009-2011, she was posted as ACP ADCP-1 in Amritsar. While in 2010 she was on maternal leave, in 2012 she was posted as SSP Barnala. She remained posted as SSP Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur.
Later she went on deputation to centre. She remained deputy secretary, director Information and Broadcasting. The government had given her two years extension in centre deputation period.
In September 2024, she was promoted as Inspector General rank.
Around 15 years ago, in 2010 than akali government had made Jalandhar , Ludhiana, Amritsar as Police Commissionerates. It was set up with a mission to prevent crime, maintain law & order, and manage traffic along with other citizen services.
