Food Supplies Officer arrested by vigilance bureau in a corruption case

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has apprehended Kawaljit Singh, posted as Assistant Food Supplies Officer (AFSO) at Tarn Taran. He was absconding since March 2024 after being nominated as an accused in a FIR registered at VB police station Amritsar range.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused was arrested and nominated in the misappropriation case based on the evidence collected during the investigation and disclosure statement of the co-accused. In this case he in connivance with others had fraudulently sold out the government stock of wheat worth Rs 1 crore 25 lakhs.
The accused AFSO was produced in the competent court today and sent to one day police remand to the VB. Further investigation was under progress at VB Unit Amritsar, he said.
