For the first time women IAS managing largest, historic, border area, princely, religious, lowest literate district of Punjab

This is for the first time in Punjab when such a large number of women are managing districts as deputy commissioners. With the recent reshuffling, now out of twenty three districts Punjab’s ten districts are managed by women IAS officers.

At present there are six border districts in Punjab which share the boundary with Pakistan. These districts are Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka. Out of these sensitive border area districts, Ferozepur is managed by Amrit Singh and Fazilka by Senu Duggal.

Punjab’s industrial hub and lifeline, Ludhiana district is administrated by first time woman deputy commissioner Surbhi Malik.

Sakshi Swahney broke the jinx when she became the first deputy commissioner of princely state Patiala.

Preeti Yadav has the honour to be seated on the chair where Punjab’s first woman deputy commissioner Vini Mahajan was seated as deputy commissioner Rupnagar district.

Preneet Shergill got the opportunity to serve the religiously, historically all important district of Fatehgarh Sahib. For minoritiy communities namely Sikhs, Muslims, Jains Fatehgarh Sahib is a sacred place having their religious places.

Rakhi Dugg has got the chance to serve the saintly devoted district of Faridkot, which was named after Sufi saint Baba Farid.

One of Punjab’s district having less literacy rate as compared to other districts, Mansa is overseen by Baldeep Kaur.

Barnala, a proud district of India where Karam Singh, Indian Army soldier, who was the first living recipient of the Param Vir Chakra belonged to is commanded by Poonamdeep Kaur.

One of the oldest district’s of Punjab, Hoshiarpur is lead by Komal Mittal .

For the first time women IAS managing largest, historic, border area, princely, religious, lowest literate district of Punjab. Not only IAS but some of the districts are managed by women police officers as senior superintendents of police (SSPs).

Avneet Kaur Sidhu is managing Malerkotla, Ravjot kaur Grewal is heading Fatehgarh Sahib police and Kanwardeep Kaur is controlling the border area falling under Ferozepure district. Likewise another woman officer Saumay Mishra is controlling the Ludhiana city police as DCP.
