Foresightedness of Patiala district administration avoided mishap

Due to heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Mohali, Patiala is affected by flash floods as the water level in many seasonal rivulets passing through the district has crossed the danger level.
After three decades, Patiala has witnessed the Badi Nadi (seasonal rivulet) passing through the city crossing the danger level of 12 feet and playing a havoc in some parts of the city.
Due to heavy inflow of water in the Badi Nadi, district administration under the command of deputy commissioner Sakshi Swahney, remained on toes in all these 3-4 days. They kept an eagle eye on the prevailing situation and take all precautions, timely action, and decisions for avoiding the situation to turn bad to worse.
Due to their alertness and timely action a mishap is averted.
On Tuesday morning the PWD officials under the supervision of Parneet Tiwana, executive engineer PWD sensed a trouble in the bridge over the Baddi Nadi on Patiala-Rajpura road near Truck Union and decided to close it for traffic as a precautionary measure as it was not possible to check, repair the fault due to heavy flow of water under the bridge.
DC Patiala immediately gave her consent to stop the vehicular traffic on one part of this busy and major over bridge over the Baddi Naddi, connecting Patiala-Rajpura road. The traffic is diverted to other part of the bridge. This immediate action of the PWD officials saved any peculiar situation before it occurs.
