Former Congress MLA arrested for illegal mining in Punjab

Taking a strict stance on illegal mining, the Punjab government on Friday took major action against illegal mining in Pathankot. The administration has arrested former Bhoa Congress MLA Joginder Pal Bhoa.
Joginder Pal Bhoa remained MLA from Bhoa, Pathankot from 2017 to 2022. He lost to AAP leader Lal Chand Kataruchak by 1204 votes. Now, Joginder Pal has been accused of getting illegal mining done.
The spokesperson said “the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has confirmed its ‘zero tolerance’ policy against corruption and illegal activities by arresting former Congress MLA from Bhoa, Joginder Pal, after he was found involved in illegal mining”.
On Friday, illegal mining was detected at a crusher site owned by the wife of former MLA Joginder Pal Bhoa near river Ravi. On reaching thr spot, SDO Mining found huge amount of mining through Poclain machines and tippers at the site.
Joginder Pal Bhoa also tried to interfere in the legal process. But the administration arrested him and one of his associates, Surjeet Singh alias Laddi, from the spot. A Poclain machine and a tipper have also been recovered from the spot.
On the statement of the mining officer, a case will be registered against all the accused including former MLA Joginder Pal Bhoa added the spokesperson
