Former ministers accused of stealing Farata fan, room heater etc worth lakhs of rupees

The electricity wing of the public works department (PWD) and SDO, provincial division number 1 of PWD, Chandigarh has sent a letter to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha secretary and executive engineer , provincial division, PWD, Chandigarh, respectively, following complaints of valuables worth several lakhs of rupees missing after two former Punjab cabinet ministers vacated their official residences.
These ministers include the former Finance Minister of Punjab Manpreet Singh Badal and former Power, Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, who recently vacated government houses.
Manpreet Singh Badal resided at Kothi number 47, Sector 2 and Gurpreet Singh Kangar resided at Kothi number 960, Sector 39-A, Chandigarh, when they were ministers during 2017-2022 congress rule.
In a letter dated March 10 the PWD executive engineer wrote to the secretary of Punjab Vidhan Sabha that items, including two refrigerators worth Rs 65,530 and Rs 44,000, five LED TVs worth Rs 2,98,100, four oil-filled radiators worth Rs 56,680, six heat convectors worth Rs 13,110, a room heater worth Rs 835 and five pedestal fans worth Rs 8,000, were missing from the house allocated to former minister Gurpreet Singh.
These missing items were came into light after the former ministers vacated their residences after the new AAP came to power.
In another letter sent to the secretary on March 24, a dining table, ten dining chairs, one service trolley and a recliner sofa have been reported missing from the house allotted to the then finance minister, Manpreet Singh Badal.
In this matter, former minister Gurpreet Kangar said that right now the goods are lying in the government residence only. He hasn’t vacated. Whatever material is being told, it will be handed over to the department, in coming days.
