Four accused Punjab police inspectors transferred from Patiala Range, posted in nearby ranges

Newly appointed deputy inspector general (DIG) Patiala range Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS has transferred four Punjab police inspectors allegedly involved in the assault on Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath and his son out of the Patiala Range.
As per available information Punjab Police suspended inspectors Harjinder Singh Dhillon, Shaminder Singh, Harry Boparai and Ronnie Singh has been transferred from Patiala range to Bathinda and Ludhiana range.
The four inspectors have been relieved on the DIG’s Patiala office and has joined their new place of posting at Bathinda and Ludhiana range.
Harjinder Singh Dhillon and Shaminder were posted at Sangrur Police Lines, while Harry Boparai was posted at Malerkotla Police Lines and Ronnie Singh at the Barnala Police Lines. Now, inspectors Harjinder Singh Dhillon and Shaminder have been sent to the Bathinda Range, while Harry Boparai and Ronnie Singh have been posted in the Ludhiana Range. Both Harry Boparai and Roonie Singh are cousins.
Punjab has 8 Police ranges namely Patiala, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Faridkot, Ferozepor, Border, Ropar, Jalandhar and all 28 police districts fall under these 8 police ranges jurisdiction.
Ludhiana Range have three Police district i.e.-Ludhiana Rural (earlier Jagraon), Khanna, Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahar), whereas Bathinda Range have Bathinda and Mansa districts.

These four inspectors are already suspended for allegedly assaulting Colonel Bath and his 21-year-old son Angad over a parking dispute outside a roadside eatery near Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala on March 13,2025.
On July 16, Punjab and Haryana high court has handed over the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after the Colonel Bath’s wife, Jasvinder Kaur demanded a free and fair probe along with the transfer of accused 4 inspectors out of Patiala Range.
