Four-Week Orientation Programme inaugurated at GNDU

A “Four-Week Orientation Programme-107″ was inaugurated here today at the UGC- Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 40 University and College teachers pertaining to a multiplicity of academic disciplines from various nooks and corners of the country are participating.
Prof. Manoj Kumar, Professor Incharge (Examinations) of the University chaired the inaugural session. He, in his inaugural address enlightened the participants about the aims and objectives of such courses offered by the Centres as prescribed by the University Grants Commission. He exhorted the participants to put their heart and souls into in order to derive the maximum benefits.
Expressing his deep dismay over the quality of research being carried out in the country despite huge potential, he exhorted the teaching community at large to realize their responsibility and to encourage their students to pursue quality research. Concluding his inaugural address, he underlined the dire need of the hour to inculcate analytical, inquisitive, innovative skills in the students of today by the teaching community.
Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig, Director, urged the participants to make a virtue out of the necessity in order to enhance the expertise, pedagogical skills during the length of the course by interacting not only with the eminent resource persons but also with each other. Talking about the HRDC, he said that our Centre enjoys the reputation amongst the teachers all over the country of being disciplined, target-oriented as well as for the high quality of the academicians.
