Four youths stuck in Libya return home, youths thank Ajavir Singh Lalpura

“Due to the efforts of Bharatiya Janata Party  Rupnagar district president Ajayvir Singh Lalpura, four of the youths stuck in Libya have returned to India. Their air tickets were arranged by ‘Pehlan Insaniat, organisation” claimed Lakhwinder Singh of Lang Majari village.

While addressing a press conference along with three of these youths at Rupnagar Ajayvir Singh Lalpura said that Lakhwinder Singh of Lang Majari village under Sri Anandpur Sahib Tehsil, Gurpreet Singh of Nurpur Rajputan village of Kapurthala district, Joginder Singh of Fatehgarh Karotana village of Moga district and one Sanoj Kumar of Bihar have returned from Libya,.

He said that on the day he got the information about these youths beingg stuck in Libiya, he contacted the Chairman of the National Commission for minorities  Iqbal Singh Lalpura, the Ministry of External Affairs and other officials of the Government of India.      Apart from this, he also interacted with the youth through video call on the very first day, from where he got to know the current situation of the youths.

On this occasion, he specially  thanked External Affairs  Minister  S. Jai Shankar, Minister of State for  External Affairs  Meenakshi Lekhi, Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities Iqbal Singh Lalpura and the senior official of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs  posted in Libya Paramjit Singh due to     whom these young people have been able to return to their homes.

Lalpura said that after establishing contact with the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian officials present in Libya approached the youth and provided the necessary items to them.

Apart from this, the Ministry of External Affairs also gave money to the youth so that they could buy essential items.

On this occasion, the returned youth thanked  Ajavir Singh Lalpura and told the story of the torture that they suffered in Libiya.

Lakhwinder Singh of village Lang Majari said that the agent got him a tourist visa for Dubai and promised to give him a job in Dubai, but when he went there,the agent said that he would get a salary in dollars in Libya and they would get a job in the same company and because of not getting employment. The worried youth reached Libya where the company started taking work from them without pay and they used to give food of their own free will, when the youth protested, they started brutally beating them (youths)and the situation started became horrible.     He said that at Libya the local army used to call them to a room alone and beat them up.

Lakhwinder Singh said that on February 3, he had a video call with Ajayvir Singh Lalpura, then he told all his problems to  Lalpura and the next day, officials of the Ministry of External Affairs (Government of India) reached him from the nearby area.     After that they saw a ray of hope. He said that the situation was so bad that they were forced to think of suicide, because they could not see any other option.

He told that a boy who is from Nawanshahr, who got fed up and even tried to touch the electric wires and cried to send him back but the contractor who kept him captive did not listen and the torture continued.

The youth also showed the marks of torture on their bodies.   He said that only Ajavir Singh Lalpura saved their lives  and they owe him and Iqbal Singh Lalpura, External Affairs Minister S Jai Shankar, Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi , Sardar Chhina , Officials of the Ministry of External Affairs are very grateful.
