From Struggle to Self-Reliance: Punjab’s Beneficiaries Share Success Stories at Ambedkar Jayanti Event in Patiala

Beneficiaries of various welfare schemes being provided by the Punjab Government today expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann during a state-level event organized to mark the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Punjabi University, Patiala.

Five beneficiaries who received Rs. 51,000 each under the Aashirwad Scheme, ten students who availed the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, and ten beneficiaries, who availed loans from the Punjab State Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation, and Punjab State Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation stated that the Punjab government has extended a helping hand to the needy and underprivileged sections through its welfare initiatives.

Jaspal Kaur, a resident of Seel village, thanked CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and shared how the Punjab government’s loan scheme has transformed her life. She revealed that she took a loan of Rs.3 lakh to purchase four milk animals and started a dairy business, which significantly improved her livelihood and made her self-reliant. Similarly, Sukhwinder Kaur from village Seona, who also took a Rs.2 lakh loan to open a grocery store, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister.

Other beneficiaries, including Makhan Singh and Darshan Singh from Seona, who took Rs.2 lakh loans for furniture businesses, Captain Singh from Khutti Chhanna, who availed a Rs.3 lakh loan to open a shop, and Harbhajan Singh from Chuharpur Marasian and Harjinder Singh from Shahpur, who took loans for dairy businesses, also thanked the Punjab government for the loan schemes.

10 Students who received post-matric scholarships ranging from Rs.3,000 to Rs.7,000 said that due to financial constraints, they were forced to discontinue their education. However, the Punjab government’s scholarship scheme encouraged them to pursue higher studies, and they are now progressing in their academic careers with this support.
