The National Integration Day was observed today at Guru Kashi University (GKU) to mark the birth anniversary of Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. On this occasion, the University Registrar, Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman, read out the pledge in front of the portrait of Sardar Patel, which was read after him by all those present. Earlier the significance of the day was explained by him. The pledge taking ceremony was held in all the colleges of GKU where in faculty, students and staff took part overwhelmingly.
The college of Physical Education organized a programme “ Run for Unity” wherein a large number of students and faculty participated. The students made human signs of unity and national integration.
Present among others were the Vice Chancellor, Col Dr Bhupinder Singh Dhaliwal, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Jagpal Singh, Registrar Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Director Finance Dr Narinder Singh, and other Deans/Directors/Officers of GKU.
The Managing Director, S. Sukhraj Singh Sidhu said that the prevailing time demands that the patriotic fervour is instilled among our youth. Col (Dr) Dhaliwal exhorted the youth to work for the patriotic cause and return their dues to the nation.
The event witnessed the singing of the National Anthem.
