GNDU decked up to receive MAKA Trophy for 25th time from President of India ; staff, students on cloud nine-VC

Guru Nanak Dev University GNDU), Amritsar proudly announces that Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu will receive the prestigious Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy from Honorable President of the country, Droupadi Murmu ji, on behalf of the Guru Nanak Dev University on January 09.
Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Incharge Sports will also accompany Prof. Sandhu on this occasion. The ceremony, to be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, marks the 25th win by the University of this Coveted Trophy and signifies the university’s enduring commitment to sporting excellence.
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, extended his congratulations to the entire university community and the people of Punjab for this exceptional achievement. Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains also expressed their jubilation and gratitude for this momentous milestone while expressing their hopes for the continuous advancement of Guru Nanak Dev University and Punjab.
Adding to the glory, University player Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar is set to receive the Arujan Award, becoming the 36th player from the university to be honored with this prestigious award. Tomar’s remarkable achievements in shooting, including securing gold medals in both the Asian and World University Games, reflect the institution’s commitment to nurturing exceptional talent.
The MAKA Trophy, revered for acknowledging exceptional sports performance in various arenas, including the All India Inter-University Tournament, Khelo India University Games, and International Competitions, will be handed over to Prof. Sandhu in recognition of Guru Nanak Dev University’s consistent prowess in the sporting domain.
