GNDU Inter-departmental Cultural Festival Jashan 2019 enthralls audience

On the second day of ongoing Inter-Departmental four-days Cultural Festival Competitions Jashan-2019 of the Guru Nanak Dev University, the competition of folk dance Bhangra was organized. In this competition, there were eight teams from various Departments of the University. All the teams performed in colourful Bhangra costume. These competitions were organized in the Hockey Stadium of the University. A large number of Students, coaches and faculty were present.
JASHAN started with the Folk dance Bhangra and the competitions of Flower Arrangement (Fresh Flower), Clay Modeling, Mehandi, Creative Group Dance, Western Group Dance was organized. Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu specially attended to encourage student’s artist.
Similarly, Instrumental (Percussion), Instrumental (Non-Percussion), Nautanki, Mimicry, Skit, Choreography, Show of Short Film Making competitions would be held on the third day i.e. March 16. On the final day i.e March 17, the competitions of Dance to Tune and Gidha followed by prize distribution would be held.
Earlier, the Inter-Departmental four-days Cultural Festival Competitions Golden Jubilee Jashan-2019 was inaugurated yesterday at the Hockey Stadium with great enthusiasm. A large number of Student-artists of the various Departments of the University are participating in this four-day event which would be concluded on March 17.
Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor presided over the festival. Major Gen. Karanbir Singh Brar G.O.C. 15 inventories was the chief guest. Professor Shweta Shenoy, Head, MYAS-GNDU Department of Sports Science and Medicine, Mrs. Jasbir Kaur Brar, Dr. Tejinder Gulati, Dr. Mandeep Kaur inaugurated this festival by lighting the candles. Prof. SS Behl, Dean, Students’ Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others. On this occasion a large number of students, teachers & other officers were present.
Major Gen. Karanbir Singh Brar said that any competition should be completed with discipline and above the spirit of loss & victory. He said that hard work, discipline and dedication only the way to win any competition.
While blessing the student artists Prof. Sandhu said that student should participate in this type of activities along with their formal studies to develop their confidence and overall personality.
