GNDU Syndicate accorded its approval for starting new courses

The Syndicate meeting of the Guru Nanak Dev University was held here today in the Syndicate Room of the University. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu presided over the meeting, while Registrar Prof. K.S. Kahlon presented the agenda. Prof. Sarbjot Singh Behl, Dean Academic Affairs and Syndics were present and discussion was held on the introduction of New courses, syllabus,  and fee structure.

Syndicate accorded its approval for starting post-Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Fitness and Post Graduate  Diploma in Exercise Physiology which will be introduced in the MYAS-GNDU Department of Sports Science and Medicine. Similarly, M.Arch, ( Urban Design) on M.Tech.(Construction Technology and Management) will be started by the Department of Architecture and Department of Guru Ramdas School of   Planning, M.Sc. Human Genetics ( five Years Integrated Course) by the Deptt. of Human Genetics. M.Sc Zoology ( five Years integrated Course) by the Deptt.  of Zoology; B.A.B.Ed. four years of the integrated programme by the Department of Education from this academic session.

Syndicate approved the admission to B.Tech. courses under lateral entry scheme with condition that the candidates must have passed two years diploma after +2 or three years diploma after matriculation examination in the relevant subject from a State Technical Board. The candidates must have obtained 50% ( 45% for SC/ST) marks as aggregate can be admitted in the second year of B.Tech courses of the  University.

In the meeting, Dr. Mewa Singh, Life Long Distinguished Professor, Department of Psychology and Institute of Excellence, University of Mysore has been appointed as  ” Professor of Eminence” in Guru Nanak Dev University was also approved. The approval to 51 candidates for the award of PhD in various faculty was also accorded by the Syndicate.

Before the Syndicate meeting, Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu welcomed new Syndicate members and also gave farewell to members whose term was over. Prof. Sandhu also informed the House about the recent developments in the University. He said that University has received a grant of  Rupees 100 Crores from RUSA. He thanked the Syndics and exhorted support in the further progress of the University.
