GNDU VC, Registrar gets additional charge of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur State University of Law

Government of Punjab vide its Act No. 12 of 2020 established the State Law University in the district of Tarn Taran which will run specialized courses in Law and Jurisprudence. To start with, the university will start the LLB program in one of the constituent colleges of Guru Nanak Dev University as a temporary campus and will establish an independent campus in area of approximately 40 acres in the district of Tarn Taran.
Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University has given the additional charge of the Law university while Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University will hold the additional Charge of the Registrar of this Law University. The Vice Chancellor has already written to the University Grants Commission for approval under Section 2-F of the UGC Act. He has also written to the Secretary, Bar Council of India for their concurrence for starting the LLB course for the current academic year. Prof. Kahlon said that the university will be shortly appointing teachers initially on contractual basis for running the LLB course and shall recruit regular faculty in due course of time.

Earlier, The Punjab Cabinet on August 25,2020 paved the way for the establishment of a law university in the border district of Tarn Taran to commemorate the 400th Birth Anniversary of the Ninth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, that was announced by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh during the Budget Session of the Vidhan Sabha.
