GNDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh unfurls the National Flag to mark the Republic Day celebrations

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh unfurled the National Flag today at the Sri Guru Hargobind Singh Hockey Stadium of the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar to mark the Republic Day celebrations in the University. The event served as a significant occasion to honor the sovereignty and democratic values that our nation stands for. A march-past was held, featuring participation from Security Officials, the NCC AIR Wing, and the NCC Army Wing, symbolizing unity and patriotism.
Addressing attendees after the flag hoisting ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh highlighted the responsibilities that come with freedom and urged everyone to contribute towards building a more inclusive society rooted in respect and equality. He also reiterated the university’s dedication to fostering an environment where these values are not only taught but lived daily by its community members.
Earlier, Prof. Palwinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, warmly welcomed Vice Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh, teachers, employees, and students who gathered to commemorate this momentous day. He emphasized the importance of unity and patriotism while reflecting on our shared commitment to uphold the principles enshrined in our Constitution.
Following these inspiring remarks, Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Registrar presented a heartfelt vote of thanks recognizing everyone’s participation and contributions that made this celebration memorable. Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Student’s Welfare, Dr. Amandeep Singh, Incharge Youth Welfare, Col. Amarbir Singh Chahal, Security Officer and other officers were present on this occasion.

As part of the event, a prize distribution ceremony was held to honor the outstanding cadets of the NCC AIR Wing and NCC Army Wing, as well as Platoon Commanders and Parade Commander Capt. Jasvir Singh. The celebrations also featured patriotic songs presented by students of the university’s Music Department, adding a cultural touch to the event.
