Good news for Punjab-for 2nd batch students from across the country opted AIIMS Bathinda

The new year began on an upbeat note at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) premises in Bathinda, as the institute welcomed the second batch of students admitted to the MBBS program.100 students have joined the prestigious undergraduate medical course for the academic session of 2020-21 from across the country.
The welcome program for the new batch was held at the newly inaugurated undergraduate hostel complex. The chilly winds and masked faces could not dampen the excited spirits of the students starting a new journey in their professional and personal lives. The students are scheduled to undergo an orientation program over the next two weeks to acclimatise them with the academic curriculum, extracurricular activities, principles of leadership, team building, gender sensitisation and stress management.
The Executive Director of AIIMS Bathinda, Professor Dr. Dinesh Kumar Singh congratulated the students on getting selected and encouraged them to make full use of the exceptional platform that AIIMS offers for acquiring knowledge, skills and professionalism. He dwelled upon the history of AIIMS and its legacy of academic excellence, and dedication and commitment to patient care. He advised the students to go beyond the call of duty to strive for excellence and carry forward the AIIMS brand in their life and work.
He urged the students to participate actively in extracurricular activities for the fullest expression of their personality. The Director also interacted with the students one on one and encouraged them to share their expectations and feelings at becoming part of the institution.
The Dean of the institute, Col. Dr. Satish Gupta welcomed the students and emphasised that the institute and their colleagues were their new home and family. He motivated them to be torchbearers for the institute with their impeccable conduct. He further assured the students of zero tolerance for ragging and indiscipline in the campus.
The faculty members from different departments like Forensic Medicine (Dr. Akhilesh, Dr. Ajay), Anaesthesia (Dr Jyoti), Gynecology (Dr. Balpreet), Pathology (Dr. Manjeet), Microbiology (Dr. Sivanantham) and Orthopedics (Dr. Pankaj) interacted with the students on this occasion.

The institution has come a long way in a short span of time with several milestones like Covid testing lab, advanced CT/MRI facilities and teleconsultation under its belt. Through its academic activities and quality training of medical graduates, it will soon redefine the medical landscape of the Malwa region.
