Governor Inaugurates DeepTech Startup Acceleration Drive at IIT Ropar

IIT Ropar hosted a Deeptech Startup Accelerator Program SAMRIDHI (Strategic Acceleration for Market, Research, Innovation & Development: a Holistic Initiative for ICPS Startups) to catalyse innovation and entrepreneurship in the realms of agriculture and water. IIT Ropar came up with a substantial funding pool of 5Cr dedicated to nurturing emerging deep-tech startups.
The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Banwarilal Purohit, marked the beginning of a transformative initiative at IIT Ropar. Joining the inauguration were luminaries such as Dr Akhilesh Gupta, Secretary, of the Science and Engineering Research Board, Dr Ekta Kapoor, Mission Director, NM on ICPS, Amitabh Nag, CEO, Bhashini Digital India, Prof Rajeev Ahuja, Director IIT Ropar, and Prof Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The Governor inspired the youth to innovate and revolutionize agriculture, ensuring prosperity for Punjab. Governor also led the unveiling of the Science and Technology Cluster PI-RAHI Logo, supported by the Government of India, showcasing collaborative strength and capabilities flourishing in the northern region through one of a kind Inter-State (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Chandigarh) S&T Cluster supported by office of principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.
Dr. Pushpendra P Singh, Project Director of IIT Ropar TIF AWaDH, charted the way forward, providing a strategic roadmap for sustained innovation. His insights into the future trajectory of SAMRIDHI 2.0 offered a glimpse into the continued support for startups in their journey towards success.
The SAMRIDHI conclave brought together over 110 partners, creating an unprecedented initiative to unite key stakeholders, investors, mentors, emerging entrepreneurs and startups in the Agritech domains. The event featured thirteen innovative deep tech startups unveiling cutting-edge innovations in Agri and Water tech, creating a ‘Tech Storme’ zone.

With over 300 stakeholders and collaboration with 100+ Investment Partners, SAMRIDHI has set the stage for a transformative future in the ICPS startup ecosystem. Funding of nearly 5 Cr for Nurturing Startups has been committed by IIT Ropar’s Technology and Innovation Hub AWaDH under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
