Graha, Nakshatra and Rashi Vatika established in Central University of Punjab

Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari organized a plantation drive for setting up of “Graha, NakshatraandRashiVatika” at CUPB Ghudda Campus on May 5, 2021.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari inaugurated the programme by planting Graha, Nakshatra andRashi saplings in the Vatika situated near Guest House at CUPB Campus. Divine Trees associated with nine Grahas, twenty-seven Nakshatras and twelve Rashis were planted at the site. The importantdivine trees that were planted include Bargad, Peepal, Aanwla, Goolar, Jamun, Sami, Bel, Arjun, Nag Keshar, Kathal, Kadam, Aam, Neem andMahua, On this occasion, Shri K.P.S. Mundra, the Registrar, Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika, Dean In-charge, Academics, Prof. Vinod K. Garg, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. S.K. Bawa, Director IQAC, Prof. P. Ramarao, Former DAA, Shri Chandan Mittal, Deputy Finance Officer, Deans of Schools of Studies, Head of the Departments and Officers of the University also planted saplings of divine trees.
Prof. Tiwari stated that the most important paradigm of Bhartiya civilizational discourse was maintaining perfect harmony with all living and non-living components of the Mother Nature. He further stated that the plantation according to Graha, Nakshatraand Rashiis believed to be important for the prosperity and good health of the humanity as a whole. In addition to protecting the environment, one can find good mental and physical energy by spending time in theVatika. This Vatika will be beneficial to the students as they will find solace after their daily academic hard work. For the benefit of the students and visitors, the names of these plants shall be depicted in Punjabi, Hindi and English languages including botanical names.
During the programme, Prof Tiwari also gifted saplings to faculty members and officers and made an appeal to everyone to plant as many trees as they can, in order to preserve our natural environment.
Graha, Nakshatra and Rashi Vatika established in Central University of Punjab. In view of the COVID guidelines, the activity was planned in different slots on the day that started with the inaugural session and followed by the plantation drive by the Deans, Heads of Departments and Officers of the University.
Dr. Deepak K. Chauhan, Programme Co-ordinator, informed that in this plantation drive,saplings of plants representing all Garihas, Nakshatras and Rashis were planted. He expressed his gratitude towards CUPB officials, faculty and staff members for making this unique programme a grand success.
