Green Election Marathon organised at Rupnagar to encourage voter participation

To encourage participation of voters in the Lok Sabha elections on June 1, General Observer Dr. Heera Lal flagged off the Green Election Marathon from Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park. Hundreds of students participated in this marathon and took a pledge to create awareness about voting and environmental protection.
Following the directives of Election Commission of India, this marathon was organised under the Green Election-2024 Mission in which students and senior citizens as well as officers and employees of various departments participated.
While addressing the public, General Observer Dr. Heera Lal appealed to vote with family on June 1 and urged every voter to keep the environment green by planting a tree for reducing pollution on the election day.
On this occasion, the students of Wings Academy entertained the people by presenting cultural activities and Navya Goyal, a student of Grammar Guru, presented a poem related to the environment. After this, the youth of Khalsa Akal Purakh ki Fauj Gatka Akhara Kurali displayed Gatka.
General Observer Dr. Hira Lal, S.P. Headquarters Arjuna Awardee Rajpal Singh Hundal, DSP Rupnagar Harpinder Kaur, District Forest Officer Harjinder Singh, Executive Engineer Water Supply Michael, District Public Relations Officer Karan Mehta were planted saplings at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park.
At the end of the program, the entire gathering took the voter’s oath and mementoes were presented to the guests.
