One day Guava Show-cum-Seminar was organized at Regional Fruit Research Station, Bahadurgarh by Punjab Agricultural University with an aim to acquaint farmers/fruit growers with knowledge regarding fruit cultivation and problems associated with the crop and to throw a light on the research work going on to improve different fruit crops especially guava.

Chief guest, Director Horticulture, Punjab addressed the farmers to produce as well as process the fruits so that the problems associated with marketing may be tackled.

On this occasion, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education, PAU shared the extension activities and achievements of Punjab Agricultural University with the audience. Dr. M S Dhaliwal, Additional Director Research shared research work being carried out in horticultural crops. In the technical session, Dr. Manav Indra Singh Gill, Head Department of Fruit Science, PAU gave detailed outline of importance and scope of guava cultivation in the state.

Apart from this, experts talked about successful orchard management, control of Insects and diseases, harvesting, packing and value addition of guava with different products like squash, Nectar etc. Director of the Fruit Research Station, Dr R S Boora briefed about the ongoing research work along with field visit and exhibition to the scientists and fruit growers.

Dr Daljinder Singh, Scientist Horticulture exhibited different commercial and promising varieties of guava and other fruit crops along with technical guidance. Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Associate Director, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala gave details about weed management in orchards.
