As per unconfirmed reports, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun the legal advisor of ‘Sikhs for Justice’ a US-based secessionist group that supports the secession of Punjab from India as Khalistan died in a car accident on road 101 in USA.
As per unconfirmed reports he is missing, untraceable, hiding since around June 20,2023 as 3 Khalistani terrorists – Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Avatar Singh Khanda & Paramjit Singh Panjwar – killed in the last few days . These three were killed in Canada, UK and Pakistan.
Though Nijjar was heading the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), he joined hands with Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in 2019. He was given the task of steering the referendum 2020 campaign in Canada. Nijjar soon became a constant face for the Sikhs For Justice in Canada and held various demonstrations and car rallies in Surrey and Vancouver.
Pannun, who usually takes credit for terror attacks in India, has been silent on yesterday attack on Indian Consulate in USA, killing of the two terrorists besides the mysterious death of Avatar Singh Khanda. His silence has left even the pro-Khalistani organisations guessing.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has been declared a designated terrorist by the Union Home Ministry under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. NIA had already announced a reward of more than Rs 10 lac on Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. His Sikhs For Justice was banned in India in 2019 as an unlawful association. It began holding a referendum for creation of Khalistan in October 2021.
Punjab Police had registered two separate FIRs, in Amritsar & Kapurthala, against Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) & his associates, including an active SFJ member, Joginder Singh Gujjar in July 2020.
As per NIA records Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is a resident of Village Khankot, District Amritsar, PS Jandiala, Punjab & House No. 2033, Sector 15-C, Chandigarh Presently resides in House No. 350-05 AVE 59th Floor Empire State Building, New York USA.
While booking Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, National Investigation Agency (NIA) said “The Central Government has received credible information that certain entities and individuals based in India and abroad such as ‘Sikhs for Justice’ have entered into a criminal conspiracy with other terrorist organisations and gangs and have started a concerted campaign in the name of ‘Punjab Referendum 2020 for Khalistan’ and are raising funds for carrying out secessionist and terrorist activities on ground as well as on social media with an intention to instigate the members of Sikh community to agitate for the secession of the State of Punjab from the Union of India, undermining the sovereignty, unity and territorial Integrity of India. Theses secessionist and radical elements including but not limited to Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the legal advisor of ‘Sikhs for Justice’ have been inciting disaffection among the Sikh community towards the Government of India through their insurrectionary, insinuating and seditious activities.”
National Investigation Agency (NIA) had registered a case under sections120B, 124A, 153A, 153B & 505 of the Indian Penal Code and under sections 13, 17 & 18 of the UA(P) Act-1967 against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun the legal advisor of ‘Sikhs for Justice’.
