GZSCCET organized lecture on “Estimating Costing & Valuation” and “Arbitration”

Department of Civil Engineering, Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology (GZSCCET), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University Bathinda ogranized an expert lecture “Estimating Costing & Valuation” and “Arbitration” on 7th November, 2017 for 5th sem, 7th sem of B.Tech & M.Tech Students . The session was briefed by Er. Kapil Dev who is B.E Civil having 18 years of experience in the field of Construction, planning & designing, Govt. Registered valuer of immovable properties by Ministry of Finance since last 10 years.  He has put light on Estimating Costing & Valuation that valuation is the technique of estimation or determining the fair price or value of property such as building, a factory, other Engineering structures of various types etc. He further told about the other methods of valuation in Civil Engineering like Rental Method of Valuation, Valuation based on the profit, valuation based on the cost etc.

There was an expert lecture on “Arbitration” by Er. Sanjay Verma who is Technical Arbitrator, and Structural Engineer in Himachal Pradesh having 18 years of experience in the field of construction & 16 years in consultation for Technical Assistant & Arbitration matters. Er. Sanjay addressed to the students about Arbitration that Arbitration is a procedure in which a dispute is submitted, by agreement of the parties, to one or more arbitrators who make a binding decision on the dispute, in choosing arbitration, the parties opt for a private dispute resolution procedure instead of going to court. He further said that Arbitration is a confidential procedure & decision of the arbitral tribunal is final and easy to enforce.

Professor Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda lauded the efforts by the Department of Civil Engineering for arranging such a knowledgeable session for the students.

Professor Manjeet Bansal, Head of the Civil Engineering department, appreciated the efforts of the speaker and said all these sessions are very necessary for the students apart from the basic knowledge of education. This was a good session, and we will keep on doing these kind of sessions in future as well. The students of 5th semester of Department of Civil Engineering attended the session. Apart from students, the faculty members of the department also actively took part in the facilitation of this session.
