GZSCCET students pays obeisance at Takhat Damada Sahib under SIP

Under Student Induction Programme, new entrants of Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda paid obeisance at Takhat Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo.
After paying obeisance, the students also organised awareness rallies to sensitise people about social issues like drugs and use of plastic and traffic rules awareness etc.
Hundreds of students from states including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and North East have joined GZSCCET to undertake Engineering and Architecture programmes here.
The students holding placards that carried green and social message, and raising slogans “Say no to Plastic” “Stop Pollution When You Have Solution” ‘Save Earth and avoid polythene covers” and “ Say no to Drugs” were main theme of the awareness rallies.
To mark the Raksha Bandhan, a festival that celebrates the special bond between a brother and sister is just around the corner, environment conscious students also promoted Rakhis that will promise a safe environment as well.
As tying of rakhi is considered to be a symbolic gesture wherein a brother promises to protect his sister for life, With an aim to give back to the nature, the students gave an eco-friendly twist to Raksha Bandhan by making Seed rakhis (with seeds of Neem, flower plants and Kadhi Patta etc) that grow into plants. The students visited Badal village and distributed theses Rakhis during door to door campaign for green mission.
The senior faculty Ar. Ranjit Kaur, Er. Manpreet Kaur, Er. Sunita Kotwal, Ar. Gurnit kaur, Sukhjinder Bandi, Shinder Pal Singh and Hira Lal Attri and Natonal Service Scheme (NSS) Volunteers also enthusiastically participated in the programme.
MRSPTU Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Dean Academic Affairs and GZSCCET Campus Director, Dr. Savina Bansal and Registrar Dr. Ashish Baldi congratulated the faculty and students for organizing such impressive programmes.
The 21-day mandatory Induction Program as per University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) requirements was started on August 1 under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Rajeev Varshney.
