Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has provided major relief to Scheduled Caste families by waiving their loans. A total of Rs 1,80,96,000 in loans for 103 families in the Rupnagar district has been waived. The government has written off both the principal amounts and the interest. In the future, the Punjab government plans to launch more schemes for needy families to strengthen their financial standing.
Today, Cabinet Minister Harjot Bains was in Nangal, distributing loan waiver certificates to families from the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, through the Scheduled Caste Land Development and Finance Corporation. He said that these families have received significant relief today.
Regarding the deployment of the Central Industrial Security Force CISF at Bhakra Nangal Dam, the minister stated that earlier there was a malicious attempt to take over Punjab’s water. However, under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, they successfully thwarted this effort. Out of fear, a decision was made to deploy CISF at the dam, but a resolution was passed in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to oppose it. Now, reports confirm that the CISF deployment decision has been reversed.
He added that for the past 60 years, Punjab Police has ensured the security of the dams under all circumstances. It was the former Congress government in 2021 that approved CISF deployment. Although CISF is currently deployed at NFL Nangal, the Punjab government has complete trust in its own security forces. Harjot Bains emphasized that the Bhagwant Mann government makes decisions solely in the interest of the state and its people.
Bains further stated that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure all facilities and services reach every citizen promptly, without unnecessary delays or hassle. The administration has been made fully efficient and responsive for this purpose.
During the weekly public grievance hearing in Nangal, where hundreds of people from the area came with their issues, Minister Bains said that the Punjab government under CM Mann has provided significant relief and benefits to the people. Development projects are ongoing in nearly every village and city, including road renovations, construction of bridges, community centers, dharamshalas and additional classrooms in government schools—projects that have cost crores of rupees.
Irrigation pipelines have been provided to farmers, leading to considerable financial benefits. Domestic electricity consumers in the state are receiving 300 units of free electricity per month. The government has created comprehensive plans to provide the benefit of loan waivers and has fulfilled many promises—some even beyond their original commitments.
Efforts have been made to reduce the hassle of traveling to faraway government offices. Public services are now accessible at service centers and also through the 1076 helpline. An easy registry system has been implemented. A corruption-free and transparent administration is being provided.
Furthermore, the government is now running an aggressive anti-drug campaign across Punjab, aiming to eradicate drugs from every corner of the state. Properties built with black money are being demolished, and major criminals have been arrested.
He concluded by saying that their government was formed with a spirit of service, has won the trust of the people, and received a public mandate for the Aam Aadmi Party. They are working with this spirit of service and will continue to fulfill their promises in the future as well.
