Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister for Education, Information and Public Relations, and MLA from Sri Anandpur Sahib, today took an important step toward environmental conservation in the Guru Nagri by launching the “Green Anandpur Sahib” campaign. The initiative began at the Sri Anandpur Sahib Bus Stand with the planting of White Bougainvillea saplings. This campaign has been started with the support of Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuri Wale, with the primary aim of making the Guru Nagri more beautiful, clean, and green.

Bains said that environmental conservation is not only the responsibility of the government but a shared duty of society and volunteers. He stated that in this sacred land of the Guru, where lakhs of devotees arrive daily to bow their heads, it is essential to maintain the city’s beauty and cleanliness. Therefore, the plantation drive will be carried out on a large scale, and saplings will also be planted at various locations in the city in the coming days.

He said that Sri Anandpur Sahib is a land of immense historical and spiritual significance, where Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji made the supreme sacrifice for humanity—an act that will always be remembered. The 350th Shaheedi Samagam of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is being commemorated by the Punjab Government on a large scale. Considering the arrival of lakhs of devotees during the commemorations, the city’s cleanliness, facilities, and security arrangements are being strengthened.

Bains explained that the Shaheedi Samagam is not only a historical remembrance but also an opportunity to inspire society to walk on the path of humanity, patience, and truth. Making the city greener on this occasion symbolizes that respecting both humanity and nature is our moral duty.

He appealed to the people to join this environmental conservation initiative by planting trees in their homes, streets, and villages. The Cabinet Minister said that if every family plants even one tree a year, future generations can be provided with a healthy and clean environment.

On this occasion, Baba Kashmir Singh ji Bhuri Wale also shared his thoughts, saying that service and respect for nature hold great importance in religion. Planting trees is the greatest form of service because it not only makes the earth greener but also sustains life. With the start of this campaign, a new message of hope and beauty has spread in the Guru Nagri, which will move further towards prosperity in the coming days.

Present on the occasion were Rajiv Kumar Uppal, Range Officer Sri Anandpur Sahib; Sahib Singh, Forest Guard; Raman, Forest Guard; Daljit Singh, Forest Guard; Sher Singh, Forest Worker; Harjinder Singh, Forest Guard; Balbir Singh, Driver; Channan Singh; Vikram Rana; Chaman Lal; Surjit Singh; Mangal Singh; Roshan; Bhaga; Jagat Ram; Karan, Beldar; and a large number of dignitaries.
