In the last three days, the Patiala police have successfully implemented its zero tolerance policy towards drug dealers, gangsters, and criminals.
After a brief encounter, today, Patiala police arrested a notorious criminal Gurcharan Singh alias Kalu wanted in alleged dacoity, armed robbery, NDPS cases.
SSP Patiala Varun Sharma disclosed that in a major breakthrough, Patiala Police subdued an aggressive gangster in a gunfight, during patrolling a party led by SP Investigation Gurbans Singh Bains and Incharge CIA Patiala Pardeep Singh Bajwa, at a Village Faganmajra on Patiala Sirhind Road, near Asian College road, Patiala.
The Patiala police have rounded up Gurcharan Singh @ Kalu R/O Vill. Baheri PS Gharuan Distt. SAS Nagar . Gurcharan Singh alias Kalu has fired 4 shots from his 32 bore illegal pistol on the Police Party.
The Police party showed exemplary bravery and restraint. In the retaliatory gunfire by the police team in self defence the accused suffered a gunshot injury on his leg.
As per police records, the accused is a hardened criminal with more than 8 cases of dacoity,armed robbery, NDPS act registered against him.

On May 12,2025 Patiala police have foiled an inter-state nexus of drug peddlers involved in smuggling opium into Punjab from North Eastern state with the arrest of three suspects. The police seized around 16 kg of opium, drug money from their possession.
On May 13,2025, in a major breakthrough in Punjab’s ongoing war against spurious and illicit liquor, a joint team of Patiala District Police and the Excise Department seized a large consignment of 600 liters of methanol, a chemical commonly used in the manufacture of illicit liquor from Tepla, in Patiala district.
Today, on May 14, 2025 the same Patiala police rounded up Gurcharan Singh after a brief encounter on Patiala-Sirhind road side area.
