Headless Punjabi University mars the visit of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Committee on its maiden visit to campus

Today, for the first time in the history of Punjabi University an important event happened when a Punjab Vidhan Sabha Committee for Welfare of SCs, BCs and Scheduled tribes came to meet and interact with the students, staff members of the establishment and officers of the Punjabi University here this afternoon.
Headless Punjabi University (as there is no vice chancellor) mars the visit of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Committee on its maiden visit. The committee is welcomed by the Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Narinder Kaur Multani, Registrar Prof. Sanjeev Puri, Dean Students Welfare Prof. Monica Chawla and some other faculty members met the committee members at the University guest house.
The extended term of University’s officiating vice chancellor KK Yadav, IAS, secretary higher education, Punjab government has already ended on September 25,2024 and till date no official communication has been received by the university authorities on the appointment of its vice chancellor.
On the other hand the committee heard their problems and asked them to give their concerns in writing to the committee for its prompt resolution. The committee assured all the students and employees that their grievances would be redressed on the top priority. The committee also assured the staff members that injustice would not be tolerated in their promotions and recruitment at any cost.
“It’s a Red Letter day in the history of Punjabi university as it’s the largest university of the region imparting basic education to the most part of the state. But due to absence of regular or officiating vice chancellor, the purpose of the committee may not be fulfilled” said a senior functionary of the university on the condition of anonymity.
Out of 13 member committee MLAs Jasbir Singh Sandhu, Amit Rattan Kotfatta, Gurdev Singh Dev Mann, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhari, Jagseer Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Kotli met the university officials including Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Narinder Kaur Multani, Registrar Prof. Sanjeev Puri, Dean Students Welfare Prof. Monica Chawla and others.
The Committee other members including its chairman Dr Ravjot Singh , Dr Charanjit Singh, Dalbir Singh Tong, Labh Singh Ugoke, Mohinder Bhagat, Dr Nachattar Pal, Rajnish Kumar Dahiya didn’t turn up for meeting.
