Health Minister Inaugurates CME on “Critical Care: Reaching out to the Masses” in Patiala

The Patiala Chapter of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine organized a CME (Continuing Medical Education) event themed “Critical Care Reaching Out to Masses” at Mata Kaushalya Hospital (MKH), Patiala.
The event was led by Organizing Chairman Dr. Harinder Pal Singh along with coordinators Dr. Tripat and Dr. Vaneet Kaur, and was attended by medical professionals committed to expanding the reach of critical care.
Dr. Balbir Singh, the Health Minister of Punjab, served as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, Dr. Balbir Singh called on the distinguished doctors and participants to develop a standardized protocol for life-crisis management at the periphery level. He emphasized the need for comprehensive training for medical and paramedical staff in life-saving techniques, with the goal of making critical care accessible and timely. Dr. Balbir Singh also encouraged clinicians to continually upgrade their skills in intensive care to meet evolving medical challenges.
Highlighting the Punjab government’s commitment to accessible healthcare, Dr. Balbir Singh reiterated that providing advanced intensive care without financial burdens on patients remains a key priority.
Dr. Jagpalinder Singh, Medical Superintendent of MKH Patiala, spoke on the recent introduction of ICU and NICU facilities at the hospital and the significant benefits these bring to the community. The CME saw the participation of esteemed guests, including Dr. Jatinder Kansal, Civil Surgeon Patiala; Dr. Parmod Kumar, Head of Anesthesia at Government Medical College Patiala; Dr. Rakesh Arora, Member of the Punjab Medical Council; and Dr. Vikas Goyal, SMO MKH Patiala, along with delegates and faculty members.
