High Court orders inquiry in Col. Bath’s assault case

Today, Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Harpreet Singh Brar’s court has handed over the enquiry of Col. Pushpinder Singh Bath assault case to Chandigarh Police.
Today, a case of Col. Pushpinder Singh Bath for demanding CBI inquiry is listed in Punjab and Haryana High Court.
On the day of hearing the case is shifted from Justice Sandeep Moudgil court to Justice Harpreet Singh Brar’s court.
As per initial reports, the High Court has asked the Chandigarh Police to form a new SIT within three days and complete the probe within four months. No police officer from Punjab (on deputation) shall be part of SIT.
The SSP Chandigarh is a Punjab cadre IPS officer.
As per sources, “the court when took up the hearing of the petition today asked the Punjab Government to give consent for shifting of probe to Chandigarh Police which was accepted by the state attorney and also be the family of Col. Pushpinder Singh Bath.”
Punjab Police ADGP AS Rai, IPS, headed Special investigation team (SIT) team along with Hoshiarpur SSP Sandeep Malik and SAS Nagar SP Manpreet Singh in Col. Pushpinder Singh Bath assault case has now become defunct after inquiry was shifted to Chandigarh Police.

The Patiala police had booked the 12 accused cops under Sections 109, 310, 155(2), 117(2), 126(2) and 351(2) of the BNS. One of the inspectors was booked under Sections 299 and 191 of the BNS on Col. Pushpinder Singh Bath’s complaint.
