For holding press conference, major penalty imposed; HPSEBL employees, engineers, pensioners to protest on August 7-JAC

The Joint Action Committee of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Employees, Engineers and Pensioners will l hold protest meetings at Shimla on August 7 if the management does not withdraw the orders regarding framing of charge sheet for major penalty against Joint Action Committee convenor Lokesh Thakur and co-convenor Heera Lal Verma for holding a press conference conference at Hamirpur, during which the committee issued a 21-day ultimatum to the board management to address its long-pending demands.
A meeting of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Employees, Engineers and Pensioners was held today. In the meeting, there was strong protest against the framing of charge sheet for major penalty against Joint Action Committee convenor Lokesh Thakur and co-convenor Heera Lal Verma for holding a press conference and termed it a major attack on the rights of the trade union with a spirit of revenge. He alleged that earlier on July 10 a complete ban had been imposed on the dharna demonstrations by the employee organizations outside the offices of the management class board.
Heera Lal Verma , Co-convener Joint Action Committee said that a big struggle against this attitude of the management and has given two week’s time to the Board management to restore the right of the trade unions to protest at the workplaces of the Electricity Board and the charge sheets and office orders issued on July 24 about the harassment of the officials should be withdrawn immediately.
In case the management does not call for talks on the pending demands, then on August 7, thousands of employees, engineers, pensioners and outsourced employees will hold a huge protest against these orders in Shimla and after that it has also been decided to move towards a big state-wide action.
On July 09 , one day token strike was observed on the call of NCCOEEE and held demonstrations across the country, HPSEB Ltd management issued l order on July 10 imposing ban on meetings and demonstrations in premises throughout the State. The committee further alleged that the functioning of HPSEBL is increasingly being monopolised by a few individuals, leading to arbitrary decision-making. “The board is being run according to the whims and fancies of select officials,” the JAC claimed.
