Humble gesture by newly appointed Central University of Punjab’s VC

A person is known for his values, how reputed he or she may be. This comes true for the newly appointed vice chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda Prof Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari.
Prof. Tiwari who was working as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, in Madhya Pradesh assumed the charge of vice chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda on Saturday, August 23,2020.
While coming to Bathinda, on car he had already instructed his driver to stop the car at the border of Punjab. At the border of Punjab, he came out of his vehicle and bowed down and touched the land of five rivers, land of gurus, land of warriors, land of scholars, land of saints, land of poets, land of freedom fighters, land of traditions, land of culture, land of agriculture, land of literature :Punjab ,as a mark of respect.
In an informal chat ,Prof Tiwari said,” I had come to Chandigarh, but never got the occasion to come to Punjab. I had heard so many good things about Punjab, so I got curious and excited when the President of India Ram Nath Kovind appointed me the vice chancellor of this prestigious university Central University of Punjab at Bathinda” .
When enquired about “Why he touched the land of Punjab, as a mark of respect, before entering Punjab? He said , “I am an academician by profession but I am an Indian by values. We must keep our traditions, values intact and inculcate these values in our future generations also.”
When asked what are your future plans for the institution, he reveled that “ first the Union HRD Minister Prof. Nishank is going to virtually inaugurate the new campus on Monday .After that I have some projects in mind, I’ll discuss it with the faculty and do the best for the betterment of the university, for the state, for the nation”
