After the announcement by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to release Indian air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan, as a good will gesture it is decided that Wing Commander Abhinandan will return to India by tomorrow afternoon, via Wagha Border in Amritsar district. Group Captain JD Kurrian will bring Wing Commander Abhinandan
“We have decided to release the captured Indian pilot tomorrow as a peace gesture,” Imran Khan announced this in Pakistan Parliament. Addressing the joint session of Parliament, Imran Khan, however said our de-escalation efforts should not be seen a weak gesture.
This surprise announcement by Pakistan comes barely hours after its Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is ready to talk to Indian counter part Narendra Modi to de-escalate Indo-Pak tensions and US President Donald Trump hinted at a ‘good news’.
These developments, which elevated tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad to an alarmingly high level, came a day after the Indian Air Force carried out a pre-emptive airstrike deep inside Pakistan. This action took place 12 days after the February 14 Pulwama terror attack.
